Knowing everything about eye operations

The different types of treatment

Above all, every case is unique; treatment will depend on the patient’s wishes, his sight defect, his age, his profession and his sight requirements.

Amongst the most widespread possibilities available today, are to be found:

- The ALL LASER LASIK :a technique that consists of applying laser treatment to the very heart of the corneal structure after making a corneal ‘flap’ using a ferntosecond laser.

- PHOTOREFRACTIVE KERACTECTOMY (PRK) :treats the cornea on its surface using a single Excimer laser. This technique is more painful and much longer time needed for recovering sight, but it is suitable for certain administrations or authorities (police, army, fire brigade, etc.).

-INTRAOCULAR LENSES : this technique consists of placing the optic correction inside the eye, either keeping the natural crystalline lens or not.

- PRELEX :a technique consisting of replacing the natural crystalline lens by a multifocal lens in order to recover both close and distant sight.

- OPTIMISED PRELEX : a more refined technique consisting of providing a multifocus capability (for short and long-sightedness) by means on an intraocular lens and adjusting refraction perfectly by additional laser treatment on the cornea.
